Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation CDO Sharon Snook said eight years ago the foundation worked with the Riggs’ family and PHCC, now Eastern Health, on a tribute gift in honour of their beautiful daughter, Siobhane.

It was decided books, toys and a facelift of the then existing playroom at Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre was the family’s choice. The tribute gift was complimented by a beautiful Wall Muriel, by artist Calvin Jackman, and was dedicated during a special ceremony attended by schoolmates, family and friends.

This year, Eastern Health advised the family the mural location would be moved due to renovations at the BPHCC and worked with the Riggs’ family to find a suitable location for new mural.

Siobhane’s mother Carolanne Riggs acknowledged “Siobhane would have been 16 years old last month. Presenting this new mural now takes on a new and special meaning for us, her family and friends.

“Brian, AJ and I are pleased to present this beautiful new mural painting by Artist Danielle Loranger.”

Health Care Foundation Board Chair Jerry Pike said the board understands the value of accepting tribute gifts.

“We take great care to ensure that donors’ wishes are respected. We are pleased that Eastern Health was able to again work with the family to find a new home for this beautiful print and thank the Riggs’ family for its time and patience in working with us to make today’s presentation possible.”
