Boxers tune up for provincials

Two local fighters from the Swift Current Friendship Centre Boxing Club enjoyed a successful trip to Oyen, Alta. over the weekend.

Cadillac's Mike Piglik took on Rylan Mellafond and won when the referee stopped the fight in the first round.

Two local fighters from the Swift Current Friendship Centre Boxing Club enjoyed a successful trip to Oyen, Alta. over the weekend.

Cadillac's Mike Tiglik took on Rylan Mellafond and won when the referee stopped the fight in the first round.

One of the club's newest fighters, Swift Current's Rebecca Laird, also fared well in an exhibition match against Jennifer Schmalzbauer.

The fighters were led by coach Mike Kucik of Ponteix.

The Friendship Centre Boxing Club will be hosting the 2008 Saskatchewan Amateur Boxing Association provincial championships on June 2-3 at the Rec. Centre in Swift Current.
