Build Day

The cooperation on display for Freedom Park’s Build Day at Donald C. Jamieson Academy in Burin was nothing short of phenomenal Saturday, as some 400 people from around the region registered to help with the project. Work began at 8 a.m. and the last barrelfuls of fill were emptied around 4 in the afternoon. After a dedication ceremony, hundreds of kids made a mad dash to try out the new equipment. Why did you not mention that this park was dedicated in memory of Private Kevin Vincent Kennedy, a native of St. Lawrence, who was killed in Afghanistan. Kennedy was only 20 years of age.
