Chamber first business awards

The Burin Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has scheduled its 1st annual Business Awards Night Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Marystown Hotel and Convention Centre.

The Chamber will be accepting nominations from the business community Nov.12-23.

To recognize the contributions local businesses make to the economy of the peninsula, the Chamber is encouraging residents, customers, employees, volunteers and the general public to nominate a Chamber member they feel meet the criteria of the following awards:

 ‘Employer of the Year’: Recognizes a business for integrating training and development for employees and fosters a positive working culture at the establishment. The Employer of the Year promotes a positive work-life balance and demonstrates open and consistent communication.

 ‘Community Spirit’: Recognizes a business for outstanding community spirit in supporting events, programs, services or initiatives benefitting a community or communities on the peninsula. The beneficiaries of this support may include minor sports, culture, youth, those with special needs, seniors, the economically disadvantaged, service organizations and other worthwhile causes.

 ‘Family Business of the Year’: Recognizes a business for its multi-generational involvement, outstanding family values that positively influence the business, business longevity in the community and its benefit to its patrons and the economy.

Nominations close Friday, Nov. 23 at 4:30 p.m. Nomination forms are available at the Burin Peninsula Chamber of Commerce at 245-247 Ville Marie Drive, by sending a request to Lisa at ‘lisamacleod@bpchamber.ca’ or from our website at ‘www.burinpeninsulachamber.com’.
