Mariners Athletics Running Club (MARC) is hosting its 4th Annual Fun Run/Walk Boxing Day.
This recreational family event will start on Wilson Street (across from the Marystown Summer Games Building), turn left on Harris Drive, left on Ville Marie Drive to cross McGettigan Boulevard onto Harris Drive to finish at the Summer Games Building.
The route is approximately five kilometers. Participants will be advised to walk/run on the left-hand side of the road facing traffic.
This Fun Run/Walk will start at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26.
Registration opens at 1:30 p.m. at the Summer Games Building. The registration fee will be $2 or a non-perishable food item.
There will be a mini-social at the Summer Games Building following the run.
Each year since the inaugural fun run/walk started in 2008, MARC makes a donation to a non-charitable organization. In the past, the club made donations to Marystown Family Aid and the SPCA.
This year, the club will donate to the Sacred Heart Academy Breakfast Program.
This donation includes the registration fees collected and a portion of the sponsorship funds from Edwards and Associates Ltd. of Marystown. The sponsor partnered with MARC two years ago and continues to work with the club to promote this recreational family event.
