The St. Lawrence Laurentians pulled off a double-header victory on the weekend in provincial men’s Challenge Cup soccer action.

The Laurentians doubled CB Strikers 4-2 on goals by Paul Slaney, 35 minutes; Jordan Caines, 50 minutes; Boyd Roul, 56 minutes and Tyler Forsey, 78 minutes.

Ayuba Kamara replied with both goals for the Strikes.

St. Lawrence squeaked out a 1-0 shutout over host Mount Pearl as Adrian Mulder managed the only goal at three minutes of the

Feildians downed CB Strikers 5-1 with two goals off the toe of Blaise Peters in the other weekend match.

Former Marystown Mariners/Holy Cross star goalie Scott Edwards marked his return to the Cross line-up this season, Cross blanked the Feildians in St. John’s 1-0 behind Edwards’ backstopping.

Wednesday’s mid week game has Mount Pearl at home to Holy Cross.

This past weekend, the St. Lawrence travelled to the Avalon Peninsula for two more games in the Challenge Cup series. The double blues met Mount Pearl Saturday and CB Strikers on the Topsail Pitch Sunday.

One other match had the Strikers hosting St. John’s Feildians.

The league now has a weekend off before the Challenge Cup/Jubilee Trophy finals in Mount Pearl Labour Day weekend. Holy Cross and the Laurentians now have the one-two spots in the standings sowed with CB Strikers eliminated. Feildians and Mount Pearl are battling for third spot.
