Provincial funds for Marystown Hotel marketing campaign

The provincial government has earmarked $32,750 towards a new marketing campaign and website upgrade for the Marystown Hotel and Convention Centre.

The marketing materials will help travellers find the hotel through search engines and improve online booking, a news release stated Wednesday.

“This investment will help improve the ability of the hotel to implement marketing activities and fully capitalize on the growing economic opportunities on the Burin Peninsula,” Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development Minister Darin King said.

“The refurbished Marystown Hotel will provide travellers with enhanced accommodation options, adding to the province’s tourism offerings and further highlighting the effectiveness of government investments in advancing economic activity in rural Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Hotel general manager Brenda Stapleton said the new marketing campaign and website will translate into increased business and tourism activity for the region.

The support was made available through the Business Development Fund.

Recently, improvements at the hotel, the largest on the Burin Peninsula, included renovation of all hotel guest rooms, refurbishment of meeting spaces and the installation of air conditioning system upgrades.
