Brownies and Sparks bring Christmas cheer to seniors in Marystown

‘It’s fun to help spread Christmas joy’

MARYSTOWN, NL – Brownies and Sparks visited the Marystown Retirement Centre to help spread a little Christmas cheer on Dec. 11.

The girls performed Christmas favourites including “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”

Members of the group said they had a fun time visiting with the residents.

“I enjoyed singing for the seniors and seeing their happy faces,” said Lilah Stapleton. “We all had a snack and gave them Christmas ornaments. It's fun to help spread Christmas joy.”

Following the sing-a-long, the girls helped to serve cookies and Purity syrup to residents before sitting down and enjoying the treat for themselves.

Lexie Cribb explained the group also visited the rooms of residents who were not able to join the others in the building’s common room.

“(We) knocked on their doors and gave them ornaments (that) we made – (we) gave them cookies too.”
