Burin brings down budget

The Town of Burin has approved a balanced budget for the year 2017 of $2,588,705.

Mayor Kevin Lundrigan told The Southern Gazette on Thursday that there will be no tax or fee increases for the up coming fiscal year.

“I guess just trying to live with your means,” Lundrigan responded when asked what helped to prevent the need to raise taxes.

Some of the major expenditures forecast in the upcoming budget include: $669,558 for fiscal services, $423,405 for transportation costs, $522,816 for environmental health and recreation and culture services $144,350.
