Burin Sea Cadets impress at ACR


The cadets of Burin’s Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 280 Zaandam demonstrated the skills they have learned during the year at the 34th annual ceremonial review May 23.

The corps impressed the crowd with three mobile displays: drill team, band display and power of command.

Cmdr. Tom W. Aquanno, CD, commanding officer of the Regional Cadet Support Unit (Atlantic) was the reviewing officer, and Navy League representative Marie Raymond and Master Warrant Officer Hadley rounded out the inspection party.

A number of awards were presented during the event including the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence, which went to CPO1 McKenzie Boyde.

Most proficient first year cadet: LS Skyler Luj

Most proficient junior cadet: PO2 Samantha Allen

Proficiency award for colour party: PO2 Kelsie Senior

Most improved bandsperson: PO2 Blake Hillier

Commanding officer’s award: PO2 Dylan Antle

Coxswain’s award: LS Cody Cribb

RCL Medal of Excellence: CPO1 Mackenzie Boyde
