MARYSTOWN, NL – The annual emergency services food drive for food banks in the Marystown area was held on Saturday, Nov. 25.

Proceeds from the event – an abundance of food and $525 – were presented at the Marystown Volunteer Fire Department’s fire hall on Monday evening.

The fire department welcomed the RCMP back again this year as a partner for the food drive. New partners, Burin Peninsula Ground Search and Rescue and Marystown Ambulance, also came on board this year.

The food drive supports both the Sacred Heart Family Aid and Salvation Army food banks during the Christmas Season, their busiest time of the year.

Local food bank volunteers and representatives from the four emergency services organizations were set up at No Frills, Sobeys and Wal-Mart from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Organizers would like to thank every one who donated and lent a hand during the event.
