GRAND BANK, NL - Residents of Grand Bank gathered at the war memorial this morning to mark Memorial Day.

Karen Stoodley lays a wreath in memory of her great uncle, Lyman Stoodley, one of 14 people from Grand Bank killed in World War One.

The observation recalls the loss of approximately 700 soldiers of the Newfoundland Regiment at Beaumont-Hamel on July 1, 1916 during the First World War.
