ST. LAWRENCE, NL – The St. Lawrence Lions Club and Community Youth Network, in partnership with the town and the St. Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department, held their annual parade and Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 9.
Despite heavy mist and the occasional rain shower, crowds of children lined the streets to drop off food donations and see the Jolly old fellow himself.
Following the parade, children were invited to the Rec Center, where Santa waited happily to hand out bags of treats, and CYN participants prepared hot chocolate to keep everyone warm.
CYN held a turkey raffle for the adults, while the children spent time with Santa.
The fire station was the place to be during the tree-lighting event just outside, with food, music and songs for all.
The tree was lit and blessed, followed by more fun for the children with Santa giving out more treats while the turkey raffle continued.
Tree of Memory pledges were collected by CYN from people purchasing bulbs in memory of loved ones.
