MARYSTOWN, NL – Barry Stacey and his wife Gladys were on hand again this year at Marystown Central High School to present the Cheryl Stacey Memorial Award to a graduate of the school.
Jessica Moulton was this year’s recipient of the memorial scholarship.
“I am very grateful and appreciative to have received the Cheryl Stacey Memorial Scholarship,” she told the Southern Gazette on Dec. 22.
“I intend to put the money to good use in funding my education.”
Moulton is working towards her bachelor of science degree with a major in biochemistry, and then intends to study medicine at Memorial University.
Jocelyn Lymburner, Maria Kennedy, Lisa Young and Glenda Keating came up with the idea for the scholarship following the death of their friend, Cheryl Stacey, who passed away on Oct. 17, 2016 following her battle with breast cancer.
She left behind daughters Sarah and Chelsa, and husband Greg Barlow.
