While residents in other areas of the province are headed to the polls tomorrow, there will be no school board elections for the Eastern School District’s Burin Region.

The Newfoundland and Labrador School Boards Association announced the two Zones on the peninsula have been filled by acclamation - Lloyd Cumben in  Zone 1 (Little St. Lawrence to Garnish) and Fred Douglas in Zone 2 (Terrenceville to Marytown-Burin).

For each of the school districts involved in the school board elections – Eastern, Nova Central, Western and Labrador – there are 15 trustee positions. In total, 99 nominations were filed, including 24 women.

For Eastern, elections are required in eight of the 15 zones.
