Valentine’s Day festivities moved inside in Buchans

BUCHANS, NL – What was intended to be a Valentine’s Day sliding party and campfire outside the James Hornell Boys and Girls Club (JHBGC) turned into an indoor family fun night due to cold weather.
More than 30 people enjoyed games, laughter and socializing at the club. Games included puzzle valentines, stacking love hearts, an Oreo cookie challenge and an elimination dance.

The James Hornell Boys and Girls Club held a family fun night for Valentine’s Day. Participants Sebastian Chippett and his mom Jennifer Perry played heart puzzles, putting together all the hearts as fast as they could.

While everyone was having fun with the games, hamburgers were being prepared in the kitchen, along with valentine cakes, cupcakes and loot bags.

The JHBGC has been an active part of the town for many years and though the youth population has diminished, the club remains an integral part of their lives. The club rents the ice at the T. A. Soper Memorial Stadium for broom ball, and members enjoy crafts, paint nights, treat days, family fun nights, movies, dances and games such as pool, pinball, hockey, air hockey and foosball at the club.
