MILLERTOWN, NL – The Red Indian Lake Fish Derby Committee is hoping to brighten everyone's moods following a heavy, late-February snowfall by announcing its fourth annual event
The June 15-17 Fathers’ Day weekend may seem like a long way off, but plans are underway to make that a special weekend for all fishing enthusiasts.
“We think Fathers’ Day is a wonderful time to host the event and bring families together,” says committee chair Andrew Sheppard of Millertown. “We are very excited about this event this year, with lots of people showing interest and support.”
There is a lot of work to do between now and the event, including obtaining sponsors for prizes, getting a schedule in place for meals and planning other side events. At the moment, committee members are from Millertown, but Buchans Junction and the Buchans Fire Department will be invited to come on board if they want to raise money for their local facilities as well.
Information about the derby is available on the group’s Facebook page, Red Indian Lake Fish Derby, and a website at http://www.redindianlakefishderby.com.
