There are 31,730 moose licenses and 650 caribou licenses for the island. Labradorians will see 359 moose licenses, however caribou hunting is not permitted in Labrador at this time.
Based on data from recent surveys and as part of the department of fisheries and land resources management, some management areas on the island have either seen the quota increase or decrease.
The moose management area in Pasadena-South Brook will increase by 100 to 700, while the Lewisporte area will decrease by 250, bringing it down to 800.
For caribou management areas, the Northern Peninsula is down 15 from 75, while Merasheen Island and Fogo Island are cut in half to 25 total licenses each.
The license payment deadline is July 21 and can be made online, by mail, over the phone or in person.
