An Ontario man has been charged in connection with a fatal motorcycle accident that happened last week on the Northern Peninsula.

The man, whose name and age are not being released at this time, was said to having been driving a car, which hit three motorcyclists, killing one of them, in a crash that happened Aug. 7 on Route 430, near Wiltondale.

A 45-year-old woman, also from outside the province, died as a result of the accident. The other two motorcyclists, — both male and also from out of the province — were taken to hospital in Corner Brook, one with serious injuries.

Police have confirmed that a charge under the Highway Traffic Act has been laid against the driver of the car, but would release no other details, as the investigation is still ongoing.

“There are a few minor things we still have to check into,” RCMP Staff Sgt. Maria Russell from the Deer Lake detachment told The Telegram today.

“As you can imagine, when dealing with something of this magnitude, we have to look at everything.”
