Pollett, who is employed as the lead mechanic for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District’s transportation system on the Burin Peninsula, announced he plans to seek a seat on the Marytown council in a news release on Friday.
"Marystown has given me an abundance of opportunity over the years, so I have decided that it is time I gave back to the town and its citizens,” he said.
“My experience in the mechanical, construction and industrial sector have given me the experience to contribute to making our town a better place to live and work. I will work will all elected members of council to show the people that through cooperation and hard work, we will prove once again that Marystown is a town to be proud of."
Pollett said Marystown has a long reputation as a leading municipality in the commercial and industrial sector.
“It should be a town that we are all proud to be a part of. We need to build upon that and grow this town," he said.
Municipal elections are scheduled across Newfoundland and Labrador on Sept. 26.
