Woman, man found dead after incident in Marystown

According to a news release from the RCMP on Tuesday, the death of an 18-year-old woman in Marystown on Saturday has been ruled a homicide. Jeff Kilfoy, 37, whose body was found on Sunday, died as the result of suicide. Police have also confirmed the pair were in a relationship.

An 18-year-old woman and 37-year-old man are both dead following an incident in Marystown.

According to a news release from the RCMP Sunday evening, the woman was found in a residence on McGettigan Boulevard. The man was located in a wooded area in the Mooring Cove area.

On Saturday afternoon, a heavy police presence was reported at a home on McGettigan Boulevard, and nearby residents were evacuated from their homes.

The RCMP issued a news release Saturday saying they were looking to speak with Jeff Kilfoy. Police confirmed on Sunday the 37-year-old was found dead in a wooded area of Mooring Cove.

Later in the evening, the RCMP issued a release saying they were looking to speak to Jeff Kilfoy, 37, advising the public not to approach him, as he was possibly armed and dangerous.

Sgt. Richard Marshall of the RCMP’s ‘B’ division major crimes unit has confirmed for the Southern Gazette Kilfoy is the deceased man.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. However, the RCMP say they believe there is no further risk to the public.
