RCMP responded to the collision around 11:30 p.m. The collision involved a car and a transport truck. The car had been driving east when it crossed into the west-bound lane.
A 25-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, received serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at hospital. The 31-year-old male driver of the car was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 59-year-old driver of the transport truck was also taken to hospital where he was treated and released.
The Cormorant helicopter was dispatched earlier this morning from Gander 103 Squadron for a medevac from the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says that only one patient was listed for medevac.
A helicopter was also dispatched to the scene to assist with transport of the injured to hospital.
The Clarenville Fire Department and an RCMP Collision Analyst also attended the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
Emergency crews are no longer present on Manitoba Drive. Earlier this morning, they were redirecting traffic.
