Random Island situation resolved through negotiation

None

Traffic was able to move through Robinson's Bight, on the main road through Random Island, for most of today while police worked to negotiate with a man who had confined himself to his house. At one point, though, police cars were stationed at points near the house to prevent pedestrians from wandering into the area.

RCMP say they were able to talk a man out of his house in Robinson's Bight this afternoon.

In a press release at 4 p.m., police say negotiating team speclaists were able to talk the man out of his residence at around 3 p.m.

They say there were no injuries in this matter to the man, or the public.

The man, who is in his mid-30s, was taken to get a medical attention, as a precaution. RCMP Clarenville were assisted by a RCMP negotiating team, as well as a RCMP tactical team.

Police are not saying whether charges will be laid in relation to this incident, only that the investigation is ongoing.
