Someone will become a millionaire Wednesday at Chase the Ace in the Goulds

Up to 100,000 could buy tickets today for the final draw in the Goulds Chase the Ace.
Up to 100,000 could buy tickets today for the final draw in the Goulds Chase the Ace.

Wednesday will be the 44th week for the St. Kevin’s Parish Chase the Ace fundraiser, and it will be the last draw.

Organizers of the charity event and Service NL have decided that ending the draw — which has caused traffic snarls — before school opens is best for the safety of children in the area.

Last week’s jackpot was over $1.9 million, and the 50/50 was just over $348,000.

In the event that the ace is not turned over on the first ticket draw, that ticket holder will receive the consolation prize as usual (20 per cent of the jackpot).

Subsequent draws will then be made, with a chance for another ticket holder to try to draw the ace of spades.

Each subsequent ticket holder who does not reveal the ace of spades will receive a $25,000 consolation prize.

The ticket holder who draws the ace of spades will receive the jackpot, but will not receive the consolation prize.

The Hayloft has been added as another verification site, making a total of five verification sites.

Chase the Ace tickets are $5 each (three numbers per ticket) and 50/50 tickets are $1 each, cash only.

The 50/50 draw will take place at 8:15 p.m, followed by the Chase the Ace draw at 8:20 p.m.

Tickets must be verified within 15 minutes of the draw.
