An ambulance and about 10 police cars have left Nascopie Crescent in St. John's after the street had been blocked off during an incident this afternoon.

Witnesses said they believed the incident to be a standoff, but police did not confirm.

The street has been reopened to traffic and residents. Nobody appears to have been injured.

Residents who were out when the incident began are unable to return to their homes as police work.
