The new charge was laid Wednesday afternoon when Brandon (also known as Brendon) Christopher Tobin was brought back to provincial court in St. John’s.
The 20-year-old is also charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, breach of probation and breach of an undertaking.
He is scheduled to have a bail hearing May 15.
Tobin was arrested as a result of an incident that happened April 26.
Police were called to Keegan Court in the capital city shortly after 2 p.m. that day to a report of a possible assault with a weapon. But when officers arrived, neither a victim nor a suspect could be located.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, one of the two victims in the case was later located in a St. John’s hospital, where he was being treated for serious injuries.
Police would not confirm or deny if the injuries were life-threatening.
“I can say the injuries are serious,” an RNC spokesman wrote in an email to The Telegram last week.
Tobin was arrested a day after the incident. He’s also charged with mischief and breaching court orders in connection with a separate incident that reportedly happened April 12. He’ll be back in court May 16 to answer to those charges.
