UPDATE: Suspected pill trafficker released from jail


A 39-year-old St. John’s man arrested on drug charges has been released from jail.

Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit – Newfoundland and Labrador (CFSEU-NL)

William Ivey was freed on a $1,000 recognizance today when he appeared in provincial court in St. John’s.

He was arrested Tuesday following a police search of a home in the Carter’s Hill area.

It was the result of an investigation by the province’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, consisting of members from both the RCMP and Royal Newfoundland Constabulary.

A quantity of prescription drugs such as Oxycodone, Temazopam and Clenozopan was seized from the home. In total, 158 pills were discovered.

Ivey faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

He’s due back in court May 22.
