Conservation officers are monitoring the area and asking residents to be vigilant.
Wolves have been known to occasionally attack small to medium-sized pets.
Pet owners, especially those living adjacent to wooded areas, are advised to protect their animals by keeping them indoors or in confined areas such as a fenced yard.
You should also limit the amount of time your pet spends outside, especially after dark, and supervise them at all times while they are outdoors.
There are several things to keep in mind should you encounter a wolf. Remember to stay calm and give the animal space. Also, back away slowly, but never run, and avoid direct eye contact with the animal.
Anyone sighting a wolf demonstrating aggressive behaviour or a notable lack of fear towards people should contact the 24-hour emergency line at 709-897-7116.
