Feildians cap regular season with another win

They already had first place locked up, but Feildians put an exclamation mark on their regular season in Johnsons Challenge Cup province men’s soccer with a 2-1 win over Holy Cross Wednesday night at King George V Park in their last game before playoffs.

Aaron Buckingham scored the game-winner in the 45th minute after Taylor Smith tied things up at 10 minutes. Sean Henderson opened scoring in the first minute of play.

In another game, Mount Pearl and Paradise played to a 1-1 draw.

King George V will play host to the playoffs next weekend. Feildians and Holy Cross meet in the 1-2 game 4:30 p.m. Friday followed by the awards ceremony at 6 p.m. and the St. Lawrence Laurentians and C.B.S. in the 3-4 game at 8 p.m.

At 3 p.m. Saturday, the loser of the 1-2 game plays the winner of 3-4, with the championship game set for 2 p.m. Sunday featuring the winner of 1-2 vs the winner of Saturday’s game.

Admission Friday is $8. Admission for Saturday and Sunday is $5.
