Cooke Hermitage plant in operation again

Cooke Aquaculture’s processing plant in Hermitage reopened on Sunday, Nov. 16.

Salmon processing at the Cooke Aqua facility in Hermitage earlier this fall.

Chick Brown, an official with the company, said employees are processing Atlantic salmon from a nearby Cold Ocean Salmon farm site and he expects the work to continue for the foreseeable future.

“The harvested fish are cleaned and gutted by the team at Hermitage Processing and will be delivered fresh to our customers in eastern North America,” he said.

“Trials are also underway to begin filleting operations at the facility. We are pleased with the well-equipped, modern processing operation and we have a great team there.

“We are increasing employee levels as the market and processing plant demands.”
