Here’s how much rain Southern California could expect over the next 7 days

The weather in Southern California is about to get wet.

Meteorologists say an atmospheric river event will arrive Sunday and bring the possibility of rain every day next week.

The first and weaker of the two storms arrived on Sunday, according to National Weather ServiceThe Central Coast and Ventura County will see light rain through Monday.

Rain is expected to fall first in Los Angeles County.

However, a low-pressure “event” will bring widespread rain to a wider area beginning Wednesday, according to KTLA 5 weather anchor Kaz Goldberg.

“At that point, the next wave of energy will arrive, and Southern California will have a greater chance of significant, measurable rain and thunderstorms,” Goldberg says.

“We’ll be on a storm watch from Monday through next Saturday before the skies start to clear and dry out,” Goldberg says.

Here are the expected precipitation totals for Monday through Saturday:

  • Beaches/Basin = 1.00” to 2.50”.
  • Valleys/Base = 2.00” – 3.50”
  • Hills = 3.00” – 4.00″

Goldberg said the rain could cause local street flooding.

Snow levels will be very high along the Atmospheric River, usually above 7,000 feet, the NWS said.
