There are weather warnings out for much of the province Boxing Day.

A special weather statement from Environment Canada for St. John’s, the Avalon Peninsula north, southeast and southwest, as well as Clarenville and area, Bonavista and Burin Peninsulas, Connaigre, Burgeo-Ramea and Channel-Port Aux Basques says a trough of low pressure is expected to form over the Gulf of St. Lawrence Wednesday evening and move eastward along the south coast Thursday.

Flurries and local snow squalls will give highly variable conditions, Environment Canada says.

Local snowfall accumulations could be significant, as well as reduced visibility.
