During a meeting held Nov. 19, the Town of Fortune approved a request to borrow $30,832 from Scotiabank.
These funds will be used to cover the town’s portion for a project under the small communities’ fund for water and sewer upgrades to Hayter Street.
With a total project cost of $340,000, the remainder of the funding required for the upgrades will come from the federal and provincial governments, though no official announcements have yet been made.
Town manager Linda Collier told The Southern Gazette on Thursday, Nov. 29, that work on the project will begin in the spring.
The town has secured the services of Innovative NL as the project manager for the Hayter Street upgrades.
