FORTUNE, NL – A 60-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Grand Bank Provincial Court today, Jan. 29, in connection with an incident involving the alleged discharging of a firearm from a boat docked at the wharf in Fortune.
According to a RCMP news release, police officers responded and contained the scene at approximately 11 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27.
The crew from another boat and the employees from the nearby fish plant were evacuated as a precaution.
Police say appropriate measures were taken to ensure the public’s safety.
The man, who was arrested without incident and is being held in custody, is facing a number of charges.
The police investigation is ongoing.
