MARYSTOWN, N.L. —

Planning is set to begin for development of a splash pad near the Marystown Track and Field Complex.
Council has sent a request to Edwards and Associates to look at the layout of the complex and advise the best location for the play area.
“We are aggressively going to construct a splash pad playground starting in the spring or early summer of 2020 and we’re hoping to have it open by sometime in the summer of 2020,” said Mayor Sam Synard.
He added council will be looking at similar developments in other municipalities to help determine what design will work best for the town.
“Not just the aesthetic design of it but the functional design and the equipment design," he explained.
Synard said the track and field complex would be the idea location for the splash pad.
“Parents can drop their kids off to the splash pad playground, parents can walk the track, go to the YMCA — there’s all kinds of things you can do there. It’s not just a single foot print, you can play tennis, you can do all kinds of wonderful things while you’re waiting for your children.”
