Man sent to hospital to be treated for serious injuries

MARYSTOWN, N.L.

Police are still on the scene this morning after members of the Burin Peninsula RCMP responded to a report of an unconscious male on Ville Marie Drive, near Canada Post on Thursday, Nov. 1.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre where he was being treated for serious head injuries, he was later transported to the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's for further medical treatment.

Police are canvassing the area and are asking any people in the area of Mary Brown’s and the post office yesterday evening to report if they witnessed any altercation. Currently, the area surrounding Canada Post, in Marystown, is closed off.  Police are asking the public to stay away from the area, if at all possible.  RCMP Major Crimes Unit and the Burin Peninsula RCMP are continuing the investigation today.
