Fortune woman jailed for shoplifting spree in Marystown

A shoplifting spree this week has landed a Fortune woman 198 days in jail.

On Tuesday, Burin Peninsula RCMP responded to a call of shoplifting from a store in the Peninsula Mall at Marystown. 

The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 38-year-old woman from Fortune and the recovery of 25 items shoplifted from five different stores in Marystown.

The RCMP said the total value of the items seized was approximately $650. The woman was held for court and charged with a total of 15 offences.  

She pleaded guilty and was sentenced the following day at Provincial Court in Grand Bank to 198 days in jail.
