Impaired snowmobile driver arrested after collision with parked car

A Happy Valley-Goose Bay man will be appearing in court after being arrested for impaired driving.

Early this morning, RCMP received a call that a snowmobile had struck a parked car on White Crescent.  Police attended the scene and located the driver of the snowmobile, who was uninjured, but after a subsequent investigation, was arrested for impaired driving.

The 39-year old man will be released from custody later today and will

appear in provincial court in Happy Valley - Goose Bay on May 5, to answer to a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation of a motor vehicle while over 80 mg.

The RCMP would like to remind the public that that it is an offence to operate any type of motor vehicle, including snowmobiles while impaired, whether on public roadway or trails. The law and its penalties are applied to snowmobile operators the same as they are to drivers of highway vehicles.

Labrador RCMP will be continuing to focus on combatting incidents of impaired driving.  If you see a driver who may be impaired please contact your local RCMP detachment.
