Sheshatshiu teens arrested for stealing SUV

RCMP in Sheshatshiu arrested two teenage girls early this morning and charged them with stealing a SUV.

At about 5:50 a.m., police received a complaint of a stolen SUV from a residence on Tsheniss Drive. 

Police were then advised by the owner of the SUV it had been located parked and stuck on a beach in front of Mistashini Crescent. 

When police got there, a female youth was seen running from the area of the stolen SUV towards a wooded area near Mistashini Crescent. 

With the assistance of community members, a 14-year old female youth and a 16 year-old female youth, both from Sheshatshiu, were located and arrested for theft of a motor vehicle. 

According to the RCMP, both were intoxicated.  The 14-year-old female youth was identified as the driver and police say she provided samples of her breath nearly twice the legal limit.  Both females are currently in custody and are set to be released for court at a later date.
