Woman arrested for driving while impaired by a drug

A 46-year-old woman was arrested early this morning in the Clarenville area and charged with driving while impaired by a drug.

RCMP in Clarenville responded to a report of a suspected impaired driver on Manitoba Drive shortly before 9:30 a.m. Officers located the vehicle in Milton. The RCMP said a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the female driver for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

 The accused was released from police custody and will appear in Clarenville Provincial Court in March, when she will answer to a charge of Impaired operation of a motor vehicle by a drug. The RCMP said a local officer who is trained as a drug recognition expert was involved in the investigation.

 The RCMP reminds the public to call and report any incident of suspected impaired driving.
